From Cure to Cremation Grounds

Trigger Warning: Death

it's so easy to give up. so damn easy.

when we started sharing information about Covid Resources (ICU, Beds, Medicines, Oxygen Cylinders), with every new lead coming our way, we let HOPE blossom beneath our bones. hope, that we aren't just waiting around for a miracle but are really coming together to HELP.

i see people posting and requesting to not talk about deaths (that happened due to lack of resources) because they would rather circulate the statistics of people who recovered. they want hope and i can't blame them. but all the deaths are just numbers to those who haven't been in the position to lose someone. (not trying to be insensitive) but they don't want to see the gravity of the situation. ask people who have lost someone they loved. how can you force them to be optimistic? ask those around you trying to gather information about resources, working 24/7 to help people they don't even know- ask them how it feels when they come to know the person they were trying to help has died. it breaks their heart. they want to shut their phones down and sleep till this nightmare is over but they can't do it because if they won't, no one else will. people who are in charge have become what we fear; evil. deaths of these innocent lives don't concern them and they have made it very clear.

how can we stop when we know someone is fighting for his/her last breath. i thought it will be alright, everything. and then reality slapped me so hard, i am still shaking. because no matter what we are doing, it's just not Enough. (we are not the authority, we don't have power or money or resources) we had enough time but we didn't prepare for this. we were at each other's throat because of our differences in religions, opinions and lifestyle. no one bothered to see far from those meaningless barricades that stop us from being Human. here we are, dying, grieving, losing and still being stupid, still fighting, still playing politics.

two days ago, i came across a tweet, a girl requesting for a cremation ground for Covid Positive Dead Body in Delhi. in the evening, another request for similar kind of help, help with last rites of a Covid Positive Body came. and i know there are many such requests circulating on social media. today, there are sources providing last rites facilities like it's a lifesaving miracle not the end. (it's heartbreaking but it is what we need) there are people out there gathering resources to save lives and then there are people preparing for people's last rites. (if this isn't hell, i don't know what else is). we were helping people, when did they became just some lifeless bodies. how badly have we failed? who failed us? who is to be Blamed? and, where is god? (this is when we needed him the most)

we were running out of resources and we thought that's the lowest. but after seeing those requests i know the worst is yet to come. (don't want to sound so hopeless but it is what it is) and we are still not ready.

now, we can only Hope/Pray/Help.

  1. As harsh as it sounds any conversation you have with someone you know could become the last conversation and instead of spreading distress in such crucial and sensitive situation, let's try to help the ones in need and support the ones in sorrow. 🌼

  2. This is so damn true and heartwrenching at the same time that I don't have words to mould this into but kudos to you that you could.🥺
